RSP calls informal meeting to discuss further protests
Kathmandu, October 25 — In light of the recent political developments, preparations for further protests, and ongoing current issues, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has convened an informal meeting.
Party officials are set to gather at the party office in Balaju, as informed by Acting General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti. Following the arrest of party president Rabi Lamichhane on charges of cooperative fraud, RSP plans to hold a protest today at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.
The protest, scheduled for 1 PM, will be organized by RSP Bagmati Province, as noted by Burlakoti. He mentioned that a rapid response force will be deployed to ensure the demonstration remains peaceful. The party has accused the government of arresting Lamichhane out of political revenge and plans to launch a spontaneous nationwide movement in response.
“The Oli government has arrested our president based on political vendetta. We will conduct a spontaneous nationwide campaign against this,” he stated. Lamichhane was arrested by the police last Friday in Kathmandu and is currently under investigation after being taken to Pokhara.
