Three UML leaders in consultation regarding clarification letter

Kathmandu, October 24 — Currently engaged in internal consultation and study regarding the matter, the three leaders from the CPN (UML), who were asked to provide clarification in response to criticism over the party's acceptance of land donations for office construction from businessman Min Bahadur Gurung, are reviewing the situation.

The UML had issued a seven-day ultimatum on October 22 to former Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal, Standing Committee member Binda Pandey, and central committee leader Ushakiran Timsina for their explanations.

"Internal discussions are ongoing regarding the clarification letter from the party, along with a study of the related issues," one leader mentioned. "We are preparing to determine how to respond."

The UML had accepted a donation of 10 ropanis and 14 annas of land from businessman Gurung on October 11 in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, and laid the foundation for a building at that location.

Rawal, Pandey, and Timsina had expressed concerns that it was inappropriate to make such decisions about accepting land and building donations without discussions within the party, urging for a reconsideration of the decision.
