"I am contesting for the party presidency to win," claims Koirala

Kathmandu, October 18 — Shekhar Koirala, senior leader of the Nepali Congress, has urged party members and activists not to be confused about his candidacy for the presidency in the upcoming 15th General Convention.

During a meeting with leaders from the Madhesh Province at his residence in Biratnagar, Koirala emphasized, "I am standing for the presidency to win and restore the party's lost credibility. You should all dedicate yourselves to your respective areas."

Koirala acknowledged that despite his efforts, he has not been able to effectively strengthen the party organization or ensure justice for its members. He concluded that without being in a leadership position, it is challenging to accomplish anything meaningful.

He also stated that the 15th General Convention should take place by mid-November 2025. Koirala warned that if the convention is not held on time, the entire Nepali Congress could face collapse, directing district leaders to focus on organizing the convention promptly.
