UML replies to Rabi: Government is not dead; it has become more active
Kathmandu, October 18 — In response to Rabi Lamichhane's comment that the government is "dead" following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him, Bishnu Rijal, leader of the ruling UML party, has expressed a contrasting view.
Rijal took to X to express his thoughts, stating, "The government is not dead; rather, it has become more active."
He emphasized that the issuance of an arrest warrant is neither a cause for celebration nor lamentation, insisting that the law must take its course. Rijal pointed out that when figures like Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Balakrishna Khand were apprehended during their own party’s administration, it did not lead to an uproar or claims of political retribution.
Rijal further urged Lamichhane to cooperate with the legal process, suggesting that he provide answers regarding the allegations of embezzlement totaling 650 million. "Support the law," he remarked, adding, "The court will deliver justice."
This exchange highlights the rising political tensions as the ruling party deals with the fallout from Lamichhane's legal issues.
