Media left in the dark as police officials visit Kaski District Court
Kathmandu, October 18 — The chief of the District Police Office Kaski, SP Shyam Oliya, and DSP Basanta Sharma have arrived at the Kaski District Court.
The two police officials visited the court on Friday afternoon amidst reports that an arrest warrant is being prepared against Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rashtriya Swotantra Party (RSP). However, it remains unclear whether their court visit is related to the warrant against Rabi or for other purposes.
They entered the court while avoiding communication with the media. Additionally, today marks the extension of custody for Chhabilal Joshi, a former associate of Rabi, who was previously arrested in a cooperative fraud case.
Joshi was apprehended on September 22 in Bansbari, Kathmandu, and is currently under investigation by the District Police Office, Kaski.
Investigating officers and the public prosecutor have taken extensive statements from Joshi regarding the misappropriation of Surya Darshan's deposits into the Gorkha Media Network. A police official involved in the investigation informed Ratopati that a lengthy 36-page statement was recorded from Joshi.
Reports suggest that preparations are also underway to arrest Rabi along with Joshi. However, the court has indicated that no arrest warrant has been issued yet.
Notably, discussions about the possibility of Rabi’s arrest were held during a meeting of the opposition party on Friday. The opposition has warned that they will protest if an attempt is made to apprehend him.
