Mahantha Thakur attends opposition meeting, sparks curiosity
Kathmandu, October 18 — In a meeting reportedly involving leaders of opposition parties, Mahantha Thakur, the Chairman of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Nepal, currently in government, also participated.
Chairman of the Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', convened the meeting, which is taking place in Baneshwor.
However, LSP leaders appeared somewhat perplexed about their leader Thakur's presence at the opposition meeting. One LSP leader remarked, "There are reports that he attended without even taking a phone call. We'll find out why he went after he returns!"
Narendra K.C., a member of Dahal's secretariat, confirmed that the ongoing meeting is indeed an opposition gathering, although he stated that he was unaware of Thakur's participation.
Sharat Singh Bhandari serves as a minister in the government led by KP Sharma Oli from the LSP.
