KMC punishes 84 people for littering
Kathmandu - The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has taken action against 84 people so far in the current fiscal year for littering, not disposing of waste at the designated sites.
KMC fined these people and collected Rs 237,350 in penalty from them.
Chief of the operations section at KMC's Environment Management Division, Meen Bahadur Thapa, said that 84 people were booked for throwing waste at places other than the designated waste collection sites and not throwing waste in the KMC's waste collection trucks.
He said a majority of those booked for littering are from Putalisadak, Bag Bazaar, New Road, Jamal areas.
Penalty for littering is in the range of minimum Rs 500 to Rs 100,000. KMC has been managing 800 metric tonnes solid waste every day.
