Nabil Bank teams up with Hamro Patro for easy remittances
Kathmandu, October 7 — Nabil Bank Limited and Smart Ideas Pvt. Ltd. (Hamro Patro) have reached an agreement for card-based remittance services. Today, Pradeep Nepal, the head of Nabil Bank, and Suraj Gautam, Senior Engineering Manager of Smart Ideas, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at an event.
According to the agreement between the two companies, Nabil Bank has integrated the card-based remittance platform nRemit into the Hamro Patro app. Users of Hamro Patro outside Nepal can now access the app's 'Remittance' button to enter the details of the sender and receiver, along with the purpose of the remittance. They can send remittances using their international Mastercard or Visa card.
Under this service, users can send a minimum of USD 100 and up to a maximum of USD 5,000. According to Nabil Bank, the remittance receiver will instantly receive the funds in any bank account within Nepal.
Nabil Bank has been offering the nRemit service through its Nbank app since December 2022. This is the first time the service has been expanded through collaboration with a third party. "This is a milestone for banking services, as it represents the first initiative of open banking in the country," said Aadarsha Bajgain, Deputy General Manager of International Business and Nbank at Nabil Bank.
Through this agreement, both organizations aim to simplify the remittance process in the country. It is expected to make a significant contribution to strengthening the Nepalese banking sector.
Nabil Bank has been providing the NEREMIT service through its Nbank app. Smart Ideas Pvt. Ltd. operates the Hamro Patro app, which is popular among Nepalis both in Nepal and abroad.
