SEBON Chair interview postponed
Kathmandu, October 4 — The interview scheduled today for the appointment of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Chairperson has been postponed. The remaining three candidates on the shortlist were called to Singhadurbar at 8 AM today for interviews and to present their work plans. Nawaraj Adhikari, Chiranjivi Chapagain, and Krishna Bahadur Karki were invited for the interviews and presentations on Friday.
The Ministry of Finance has informed that the interview had to be halted for special reasons. According to sources, Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, has been hospitalized due to dengue, leading to the postponement. He is the coordinator of the committee formed for selecting the chairperson.
Previously, after the chairperson's name could not be recommended, the government initiated a new process and formed another recommendation committee. Candidate Santosh Narayan, who was on the shortlist, filed a case in the Supreme Court, stating that there was no legal provision for initiating a new process.
Following that, the court issued an interim order not to start a new process. After the court's order opened the path for appointing the chairperson through the old process, the government again called three candidates for interviews. Since January 4, 2024, the Securities Board has been without a chairperson.
