Landslides block major roads in Lumbini

Butwal, September 28 — Landslides caused by continuous rainfall have blocked various roads in Lumbini Province.

The Tamghas-Ridi and Ridi-Rudrabeni-Wamitaksar road sections in Gulmi have been obstructed. According to DSP Shankar Pokharel from the District Police Office in Gulmi, landslides from above the road in Urleni of Resunga Municipality-11, Birbas of Gulmidarbar Municipality-4, and Lumchha of Chhatrakot Municipality-3 have caused the blockage.

In Arghakhanchi, landslides have obstructed several locations along the Sandhikharka-Gorusinge road section. Inspector and Information Officer Bipin Kafle from the District Police Office in Arghakhanchi reported that areas such as Narapani, Ghumti, Dahakhola, and Sitapur are affected, and vehicles have been unable to pass due to the landslides.

The Rapti Highway, specifically the Tulshipur-Salyan road, has also collapsed and is currently blocked. The District Police Office in Dang has stated that efforts are underway to clear it. Roads in the hilly district of Pyuthan are also obstructed, affecting access to various rural areas.

Meanwhile, at Kerabari in Tinau Rural Municipality-3 of Palpa, a blocked road has been cleared using a bulldozer. The police have reported that traffic has resumed on the Butwal-Palpa road.
