Dhorpatan mayor Nepali arrested in Delhi

Kathmandu, September 27 — Devkumar Nepali, the mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality in Baglung, has been arrested for embezzling funds from cooperative savers.

The police confirmed that he was apprehended on Friday in New Delhi, India, by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).

AIG Deepak Thapa, head of the CIB, stated that a red corner notice had already been issued against Nepali, and preparations are underway to bring him back to Nepal after his arrest.

Nepali had fled after embezzling over 1.5 billion rupees from more than 1,500 savers through the establishment of Image Cooperative in Baglung and Pokhara.

A case has been filed against him in the Baglung District Court for the embezzlement.
