RSP urges cadres to gather at party headquarters
Kathmandu, September 22 — The Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has urgently called its party workers to the headquarters, prompting an influx of attendees. One worker verified receiving a mobile message instructing them to come immediately.
The increased activity at the party's office follows a recommendation from the Special Parliamentary Inquiry Committee regarding the misuse of savings funds from cooperative organizations.
The committee has called for action against RSP president and former home minister Rabi Lamichhane, who is accused of transferring cooperative funds to Gorkha Media Network.
In a related development, former DIG Chabilal Joshi was arrested today in connection with the misappropriation of funds from Suryadarshan Cooperative. Police confirmed that he was taken into custody in Kathmandu.
The inquiry committee's report highlights that approximately 655.4 million was allegedly embezzled from five cooperatives associated with Gorkha Media Network, where Lamichhane served as managing director.
Gitendrababu (GB) Rai, the founder chairman of Suryadarshan Cooperative, is also linked to both Lamichhane and Joshi as a business partner.
