Balen supporter assaulted at National Day Concert
Kathmandu, September 19 — Supporter of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has been assaulted in the capital's Durbar Marga. A group of youths attacked him after he started chanting slogans in favor of Balen. The incident occurred when the youth began shouting "Balen! Balen!" at the "National Day Concert," which started at 4 PM on Thursday.
Witnesses report that a group of about five youths assaulted the young man. The identities of those involved in the assault have not yet been revealed. It is also reported that the assailants fled immediately after the incident.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, a large number of youths gathered with national flags at a concert organized by the citizens. The concert is expected to feature performances by artists such as Ananda Karki, Kunti Moktan, Devika Bandana, Sugam Pokhrel, Deepak Limbu, Pramod Kharel, Subani Moktan, and Swapna Suman.
Prime Minister KP Oli is also expected to attend the event in the evening, according to his secretariat.
