Prachanda responds to Oli's rudeness claims, stands firm on language used in Parliament
Biratnagar, September 8 — Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), has claimed that his reference to Bangladesh was not inappropriate.
Speaking with the reporters at Biratnagar Airport today, Prachanda explained that he had cautioned the government against misusing its authority simply because it holds a two-thirds majority.
Prachanda said, "Bangladesh also had a two-thirds majority government, and I warned that the same should not happen here under the guise of such a majority. I did not speak harshly about the situation in Bangladesh." He also criticized Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for his rude behavior and dubbed Oli's allegations as baseless.
In response to a question about allegations that Prachanda had acted rudely, he suggested examining the behavior in question. "I stated in the House of Representatives that the current Prime Minister is a liar, dishonest, immoral, and deceitful," Prachanda said.
Prachanda insisted that his language was not rude and clarified that the Maoist Center is not currently interested in forming a government. When asked about the possibility of collaborating with the Congress party to form a government, he mentioned that his focus is now on party organization. "We have also expressed our gratitude to the UML and Congress for their role in forming the government," he added.
Prachanda emphasized that the Maoists are not opposed to constitutional amendments but insisted that such changes should not undermine the achievements made by the Nepali people through their long struggle and sacrifices. "Amendments should not be retrogressive or take away the rights that people have earned," he said.
He warned that any undermining of the rights of oppressed communities will not be tolerated.
