Victims of cooperatives burn effigy of Minister Adhikari

Kathmandu, September 5 — Protests have erupted demanding the resignation of Balaram Adhikari, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation. Victims of cooperatives demonstrated by burning an effigy of the minister and calling for his resignation on Thursday.

Minister Adhikari claimed on Wednesday that those who deposited money in cooperatives were protesting because they were taking out loans from banks at low interest rates and earning more interest through the cooperatives.
