Congress and UML share common goals, says Deuba

Kathmandu, September 4 — Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister, has stated that there is no difference between the Nepali Congress and the UML regarding the multi-party democratic system and the republican system.

He made this statement during a program held to mark the Foundation Day of the ‘Nepal Nijamati Karmchari Union’ in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Deuba emphasized that since both parties share the same stance on these issues, they will offer full support to those defending democracy and the republic. He acknowledged the challenging situation in the country, noting that it will particularly affect government employees. He stressed the importance of understanding and addressing these challenges.

He also highlighted that the UML and Congress are the primary political rivals, but underscored the necessity of resolving any issues that arise. Deuba encouraged employees to implement government decisions effectively and to make the federal democratic republic system more enduring.

Deuba reaffirmed the alignment between UML and Congress on the multi-party democratic system and the republican system, stating, "UML is with Congress, and Congress is with UML." He clarified that both parties have a unified opinion on these matters, and while they are competitors, their shared goals include solving any emerging problems.

Finally, Deuba remarked that civil servants are a permanent fixture of the government and should adhere to the government's decisions, emphasizing that it is their responsibility to implement these decisions.
