China welcomes passage of TJ Bill

Kathmandu, August 31— China has welcomed the recent passage of the Transitional Justice Bill by Nepal's Parliament and its subsequent authentication by President Ramchandra Paudel. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, extended his congratulations to Nepal through a post on X on Saturday.

"Congrats on the Commission of Investigation on the Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act (third amendment) Bill, 2081 BS certified by the Rt. Hon'ble Mr. Ram Chandra Paudel, President of Nepal,” Ambassador Song stated.

He emphasized that this development represents a significant milestone in Nepal’s peace process, achieved through the consensus of all parties involved. “It marks a historic milestone in the peaceful process of Nepal based on all parties' consensus. It's time for all stakeholders to go ahead and embrace a brighter future of Nepal," wrote ambassador Song.

President Paudel has already authenticated the bill, which had been passed by both houses of the Federal Parliament on Thursday. According to the law making process, the bill will become law once it is published in Nepal Gazette.

The European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Japan, and other power centers have all welcomed the bill and expressed their readiness to provide necessary support to Nepal.
