Prachanda denies split rumors, dismisses leadership change

Surkhet, August 30 — Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Chairman of the Maoist Center, addressed a ideological training program in Surkhet, stating that there is no need for a leadership change within the party.

Prachanda, who is approaching his 70th birthday, mentioned that after stepping down from the government, he focused on strengthening the party. He stated, "I don’t need to remain in a leadership role forever. After building a strong team, I am considering transitioning to another role."

He criticized the recent government changes as a means to protect corrupt individuals, emphasizing that the Maoist Center will not tolerate wrongdoing. "If we make a mistake, we will not evade responsibility. This is not a language of rebellion," he asserted.

Prachanda also rejected the use of the term "violence" by UML MPs in the House, arguing that the phrase "people’s war" is enshrined in the constitution.

He dismissed rumors about a party split, claiming they are false and part of a deliberate effort to spread misinformation. Prachanda reassured that there are no internal disputes within the party, and even minor issues have been resolved.
