CPN (US) elects its politburo members (with list)

Kathmandu, August 29 — The CPN (Unified Socialist) Party has elected 84 members to its Politburo. 

In the elections, Birodh Khatiwada received the highest number of votes with 201. Jiban Ram Shrestha came in second with 195 votes, while Rama Ale Magar received 194 votes.

The results for party officials were announced on Wednesday. Jayanti Devi Rai was elected as the female Vice-Chair, defeating prominent leader Ram Kumari Jhankri. Dharmanath Prasad Sah was chosen as Vice-Chairman for the Madheshi Community. Dr. Ganga Lal Tuladhar, Bhanubhakta Joshi, Prakash Jwala, and Jagannath Khatiwada were elected as Vice-Chairmen in the open category.

Ram Kumar Bhattarai, Metmani Chaudhary, Garima Shah, and Rajendra Kumar Rai have been elected as Deputy General Secretaries. Ganesh Bahadur Bishwakarma was elected Secretary for the Dalit category, and Baldev Chaudhary was elected Secretary for the Indigenous Community category. Shreenath Baral, Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Chandra Bahadur Shahi, Som Prasad Pandey, and Sabitra Kumari Bhusal were elected as Secretaries in the open category.

At the 10th General Convention, Madhav Nepal was unanimously elected as Chairman, Jhalnath Khanal as the respected leader, and Ghanshyam Bhusal as General Secretary. Rajendra Pandey was elected unopposed as Senior Vice-Chairman on Tuesday.
