Vote counting begins for CPN (US) office-bearers and politburo

Kathmandu, August 27 — The counting of votes for the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party officials and Politburo members has begun. The votes cast during Tuesday evening’s election are now being tallied.

The election was held to choose 17 office-bearers and 105 Politburo members. Rajendra Pandey has been unanimously elected as Senior Vice Chairman.

Previously, Madhav Kumar Nepal was unanimously elected as Chairman, Jhalnath Khanal as the Respected Leader, and Dhanshyam Bhusal as General Secretary.

However, the remaining office-bearers and Politburo members were not elected at that time.

Despite attempts to achieve unanimous elections for all positions during the ongoing Central Committee meeting, it was not possible, and the elections proceeded as scheduled.
