PAC divided on action against Kulman

Kathmandu, August 25 — The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives was unable to reach a decision on the dedicated truck line tariff dispute due to disagreements during the decision-making process.

Committee Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel stated that although discussions took place at Sunday’s meeting, no resolution was achieved. The issue will be revisited in the next meeting.

The committee had planned to address six key points in the session. However, disagreements among parliamentarians prevented any decisions.

The points of contention included sending a letter to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) recommending an action against Kulman Ghishing, Executive Director of the Nepal Electric Authority (NEA).  Members of the Maoist Center and Nepali Congress expressed differing views on the six-point directive proposed by Chairman Pokharel, which included instructing NEA to recover 21 billion rupees.
