Kathmandu - Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Rastrapati Bhawa, Shital Niwas. On the occasion, matters relating to various aspects of Nepal-Pakistan bilateral relations and mutual interests were discussed, according to the Office of President.
Expressing her confidence that the Pakistani Prime Minister's visit to Nepal would help further consolidate the friendly relations between the two countries, the Head-of-the-State insisted on the need for continuing such bilateral ties for long.
The new government was formed following the successful completion of three level of elections in the aftermath of the promulgation of the constitution through Constituent Assembly, the President apprised the Pakistan's head of the government,adding that she was hopeful that Nepal would step towards political stability, and development, according to President's chief personal secretary Bheshraj Adhikari.
"Conflicts and incidents of violence occurred and taking place in some nations in the world has caused a huge human loss and pain. Such incidents must be stopped," Personal Secretary Adhikari said quoting the President.
In return, Pakistani Prime Minister Abbasi said Nepal-Pakistan relation was a unique and exemplary not only at the political level but also at the people's level. He also announced that seats for medical education being allocated for Nepal by the Pakistan Government would be increased.
He was of the opinion that issues of any two countries in the region should not affect the activities of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) and its performance. He emphasized the need of making the SAARC more effective in the days ahead.
He also said many innocent Pakistani people and militaries are losing their lives due to violence taking place in the country.
SAARC founding members Nepal and Pakistan are of late stressing the need for promoting trade and expanding communications networks.
On the occasion, Minister for Finance Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, foreign affairs advisor to President Dr Madan Bhattarai, political advisor Subodh Pyakurel, Secretary at the Office of President Bhupendra Poudel, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shanker Das Bairagi and delegates of Pakistan PM Abbasi's visit were present.
