30-year mandatory retirement: Supreme Court issues interim order

Kathmandu, August 22 - The Supreme Court has issued an interim order in the longstanding dispute on the provision of mandatory retirement in Nepal Police after the completion of 30-year service.

Judge Hari Prasad Phuyal, presiding over a single bench, has instructed that the retirement letters issued to the officers should not be implemented. Additionally, the bench has directed that no further correspondence on this matter should be sent.

The court has also ordered that there be no changes to official responsibilities and that necessary arrangements be made in the police record books accordingly.

Senior Superintendent of Police Jeevan Kumar Shrestha has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court.

During the initial hearing, the court ordered that a written response be submitted within 15 days.
