Foreign Minister Rana discusses bilateral ties with Chauthaiwale

Kathmandu, August 21 – Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, Head of Foreign Affairs for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently met in Delhi.

Minister Rana, who is currently visiting India, was greeted by Chauthaiwale at the Sheraton Hotel in Saket on Wednesday.

During their meeting, Chauthaiwale extended congratulations to Rana, a Congress leader, on her new role as minister. The discussions reportedly focused on the bilateral relations between Nepal and India.

Last year, Minister Rana had tied a rakhi to Chauthaiwale as a gesture of strengthening cultural ties between the two countries. It was anticipated that a similar gesture might occur this visit, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival. However, sources indicate that this did not happen on this occasion.

Minister Rana arrived in India on August 18 and has since met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, among others. She has been receiving medical treatment since Tuesday.

Minister Rana is expected to return to Nepal on Thursday.
