Dumre-Besisahar road blocked by landslide
Lamjung, August 20 - The Dumre-Bensisahar road has been blocked due to a landslide caused by incessant rainfal. According to the District Police Office, Lamjung, the landslide occurred this morning at Dalal of Besisahar Municipality-1.
Police Inspector Thaneshwor Chapain reported that continuous rainfall since last night caused stones and mud to fall onto the road, making it impassable. He stated that the road cannot be cleared immediately due to ongoing rain and persistent landslides.
This area has experienced frequent landslides in the past. A stone quarry in Dalal, which was operational a few years ago, has contributed to the problem. Landslides began intensifying last June when water from the quarry broke through.
As a result, vehicles traveling from Besisahar to Tanahun, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and other destinations are unable to proceed. This road is also a crucial route for accessing the Himalayan district of Manang.
