Lumbini CM Acharya to take trust vote today
Butwal, August 20 - Lumbini province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya will seek a vote of confidence today at 1 p.m. during a provincial assembly meeting.
Acharya, who assumed office on July 22 following the UML-Congress alliance, is expected to receive support from a coalition including the UML, Congress, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, and one independent assembly member.
Out of the 87 members in the provincial assembly, 70 are anticipated to back Acharya’s confidence vote: 29 from UML, 27 from Congress, four from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, three each from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and Janamat Party, two from Janata Samajwadi Party, one from Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, and one independent assembly member.
In contrast, the Maoist Center, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, CPN Unified Socialist Party, and Rashtriya Janamorcha have indicated they will not support Acharya. The provincial assembly includes 11 members from the Maoist Center, four from the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, and one each from the CPN Unified Socialist Party and Rashtriya Janamorcha.
