Parliament approves TRC bill

Kathmandu, August 14: The House of Representatives has approved the TRC Bill following a meeting on Wednesday.

The bill, which amends Enforced Disappearances Enquiry, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2071 (2014) was proposed by Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasia.

The government had submitted this bill to the House on 9 March, 2023. Prior to its passage, leaders from the three major political parties—Congress, UML, and Maoist—reached a consensus on the primary contentious issues.
