Prachanda calls for unity amid concerns over multi-party system

Kathmandu, August 14: Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to uphold his commitment to the democratic republic. Speaking during a discussion on the TRC Bill in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prachanda emphasized the need for democratic parties to collaborate in order to protect the constitution and strengthen democracy.

He warned against operating the governance system within narrow, self-serving interests or limited geographical areas under the guise of constitutional amendments or political stability.

Prachanda also expressed concerns that recent political developments might be steering the country toward a two-party system, rather than maintaining a multi-party framework. He noted that while the Prime Minister has assured that the system will remain multi-party, Prachanda remains cautious and stressed the importance of unity in addressing these challenges.
