Hearing on Kulman Ghising’s appointment adjourned again
Kathmandu, August 14: The hearing of the writ challenging the appointment of Kulman Ghishing as Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority has been postponed. The case was placed on the adjourned list, preventing it from being heard today.
Hitendradev Shakya had filed the writ three years ago, contesting the then government's decision to replace him with Ghising. The final hearing was scheduled for today, but the court's adjournment means it will not take place as planned.
Shakya's writ was filed against the government on August 17, 2021. Despite being scheduled for hearing 28 times, the Supreme Court has yet to conduct a full hearing. Between August 24 and September 22, 2021, the then Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana conducted preliminary hearings on four occasions. On September 22 of that year, Rana's bench issued a show cause order to the government, requesting a written response.
Shakya had sought an interim order to prevent Ghishing from assuming his position and to reinstate him immediately. However, Rana's bench opted to call for further discussion without issuing an interim order.
