NC leaders stress coalition success at CC meeting

Kathmandu, August 12: During the ongoing central working committee meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress Party, leaders stressed the importance of ensuring the success of the current coalition government.

Following Monday's meeting, party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat told the media that leaders are united in their determination not to allow the government to fail. They emphasized the need for Congress ministers to focus on good governance and take a strong role within the administration.

Additionally, members highlighted the necessity for central committee decisions to reflect the suggestions made during the Mahasamiti meeting. The leaders also stressed the importance of strengthening the party organization to secure a majority in upcoming elections.

Spokesperson Mahat also mentioned that the agreement to form coalition agreement included provisions for constitutional amendments, and leaders are keen to understand the form these amendments will take. He reiterated the need for amendments that uphold the principles of inclusiveness without diluting their essence.

Mahat added, "The coalition government must succeed. Failure is not an option. We must uphold our values and beliefs, focus on good governance, and ensure that Congress ministers play a decisive role. Decisions should mirror the opinions from the Mahasamiti. Strengthening the party and achieving internal unity are crucial for competing effectively in the upcoming elections and gaining a majority."

He also announced that the Central Committee meeting is scheduled for August 23 at 1 PM, where officials and former officials of the party will also have the opportunity to put forward their arguments.
