Maoist Centre accuses government of defaming NEA chief Ghising
Kathmandu, August 9: The main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), has raised objections, claiming that the government has defamed Kulman Ghising, the Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.
The party's standing committee meeting, which began at Paris Danda in Kathmandu on Friday, criticized the government for initiating activities that, according to them, obstruct the good governance work led by Ghising.
Party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota stated that the meeting also issued a warning to the government against any actions that could undermine the anti-corruption campaign. Additionally, the committee urged the government to ensure proper relief and compensation for victims of recent air and bus accidents, noting the significant financial losses involved.
Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda briefed the committee on the current political situation and advised the government to heed public opinion and act accordingly. Spokesperson Sapkota expressed satisfaction over the parties' agreement on the transitional justice bill, highlighting that the bill related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, passed by the Law and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives, will be presented to the House of Representatives on the 29th before being sent to the National Assembly.
The Maoist Centre has scheduled another standing committee meeting for Saturday at 11 a.m. at the party headquarters in Paris Danda.
