PM meets Valley Mayors' Forum
Kathmandu, August 7: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged a focus on collaborative efforts and dialogue for the effective implementation of federalism.
During a meeting with officials from the Valley Mayors' Forum at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of resolving issues through cooperation between central and local governments rather than competing for dominance.
"People's representatives are elected to serve the public," said Prime Minister Oli. "We must avoid letting ego and arrogance guide us. We need to be respectful and considerate towards people. We have no right to mistreat, oppress, or exploit them. Social media praise and false accolades are not enduring solutions."
The forum raised concerns about issues such as the Nepal Electricity Authority sending street light bills and arrears to local levels. In response, Prime Minister Oli committed to facilitating a solution in collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies. He also acknowledged the need for a sustainable approach to waste management.
Forum Chairman Chiribabu Maharjan expressed support for Prime Minister Oli and requested his continued assistance in ensuring effective cooperation between central and local governments to better serve the public.
