Rabi Lamichhane to be questioned in Cooperatives fraud probe

Kathmandu: The parliamentary special committee investigating cooperative fraud will question 26 individuals, including Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rashtriya Swotantra Party and former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.

Surya Thapa, the committee chairman, informed on Tuesday that the list of those to be questioned has been finalized.

"Questions for the inquiry have been prepared," Thapa said.

Some of the 26 individuals are currently abroad or in jail, and Thapa declined to disclose their names. He noted that while the inquiry will focus on the facts, challenges may arise in uncovering the truth, particularly if key individuals are unavailable.

The committee was formed following a demand from the Nepali Congress, which alleged Lamichhane's involvement in the cooperative fraud case.
