Kamal Bahadur Shah to be sworn in as Sudurpaschim CM today
Dhangadhi: Kamal Bahadur Shah, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, will take the oath of office today at 3:30 pm. The ceremony will also include the swearing-in of other ministers.
Chief Minister Shah has indicated that discussions between the ruling parties about the division of ministries are still ongoing and hopes to reach a decision today. The allocation of ministerial positions between the Nepali Congress and CPN UML has not yet been finalized. Both parties are negotiating to include the Nagarik Unmukti Party in the government.
The proposed plan is to allocate three ministries each to the UML and Congress, with one ministry designated for the Nagarik Unmukti Party. Sources suggest that the Congress will receive the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while the UML will take the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry, and Environment. The Nagarik Unmukti Party is expected to be assigned the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives.
It is also anticipated that the UML will retain some of its previous ministers, including Surendra Pal, Bir Bahadur Thapa, and Santosh Kumari Sharma. In the Congress, after Shah assumes office, Meghraj Khadka, Bahadur Singh Thapa, and Geeta Chaudhary are likely candidates for ministerial positions.
Former minister Rameshwar Chaudhary has mentioned that the Nagarik Unmukti Party plans to appoint former minister Laxman Kishore Chaudhary. Meanwhile, the Congress Parliamentary Party is convening a meeting to discuss the distribution of ministries.
