Consensus meeting on Transitional Justice Bill underway

Kathmandu: A meeting of the working group tasked with reaching a consensus on the transitional justice bill is taking place at the office of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in Singhadarbar. 

Participants in the meeting include members from the Nepali Congress, Home Minister Lekhak, Chief Whip Mahesh Kumar Bartaula from the CPN UML, Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma from the CPN (Maoist Center), Law Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasia, and Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee Chairperson Bimala Subedi, among others. 

The discussion is focused on resolving the outstanding issues related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Bill.

The bills concerning the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Inquiry on Disappeared Persons are currently pending in Parliament.
