NC reviewing weakness to come strong in next elections
Kathmandu - Following a dismal performance in the two rounds of local level elections, the Nepali Congress has started reviewing weakness and causes behind and seeking ways so as to stand strong in future polls.
Discussions have spilled over to the extent that party leaders have started blaming each others for such low performance and sabotaging the party itself through nepotism and favouritism.
The blame game started taking a larger shape, following a poor performance in the recently concluded two phases of the local polls.
At a meeting organised on Saturday at NC central office at Sanepa, party leaders expressed their dissatisfaction at the way the oldest party was being run and its weak performance in the local polls.
They have also discussed ways for the big party in Parliament to come stronger and perform well in future elections especially the third founds of local polls slated in Province 2 for September 18.
The meeting evaluated shortcomings in the way the party's whole organisational force was mobilised in the polls and discussed ways to come up with strategy for the party to fare well in the next polls, said NC central member Mahesh Acharya.
"We have focused our entire attention to how the party is gradually losing its strength and ways to be adopted for it to stand strong and perform well in next polls," he said.
Most of the speakers have stressed the need for NC to come together in the days to go by reviewing causes and weakness behind its failure to perform well in the elections.
The meeting chaired by President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will continue until tomorrow.
A total of 20 leaders including senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel put their view at the meeting.
The speakers include central member Bal Bahadur KC, Pharmulla Mansur, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Bhishma Raj Angdembe, Aananda Prasad Dhungana, Chandra Bhandari, Kamala Panta, Dhanraj Gurung, Mahendra Yadav, Shankar Bhandari, Min Bishwokarma, leaders Parbata DC Chaudhary, Gururaj Ghimire, Pradip Poudel, Kalyan Kumar Gurung, Ram Krishna Yadav, Debendra Raj Kandel and Sarita Prasain.
