Cholera confirmed in 20, caution warranted
Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed that 20 people have contracted cholera. In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry reported that these cases have been identified in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Kailali since mid-July.
The Ministry is advising the public to stay alert and cautious during the summer and rainy seasons, as these are times when diarrhea, cholera, and other water-borne diseases are more likely to spread.
The statement emphasizes the importance of protecting water sources from contamination, avoiding food that is moldy, rotten, uncooked, or spoiled, and using only boiled or chlorinated water. It also highlights the need for good personal and food hygiene, including washing hands thoroughly with soap and water after using the toilet.
