Saurya Airlines Tragedy: Victims’ Remains Handed Over, Captain Recovering

Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has reported to the House of Representatives that the remains of the 17 victims of the Saurya Airlines crash have been returned to their families for final rites. Pandey provided this update during a House of Representatives session on Sunday.

He also mentioned that, due to the absence of a Yemeni embassy in Nepal, efforts are underway to coordinate the repatriation of the dead body of a Yemeni national.

Minister Pandey further stated that Captain Manish Ratna Shakya, who sustained severe injuries in the crash, is receiving medical treatment and is now out of danger. He added that Saurya Airlines has covered all expenses related to the handling of the deceased.

The Saurya Airlines aircraft, which crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport on July 24, resulted in the deaths of 18 individuals, including one crew member. Captain Shakya was rescued and is currently undergoing treatment.
