Five people including a school child swept away by the river

Biratnagar: Five people were swept away by the river in Sundarharaincha and Kerabari in Morang.

On Tuesday afternoon, the flood in Budhikhola swept away four women from Sundarhaicha.

Likewise, 11-year-old Shyam Rai, son of Chitra Bahadur Rai of Yangshila, Kerabari Rural Municipality-4, Morang, was swept away by the Govine river while going to school.

Four women were swept away by a sudden flood at 12.30 noon while they were fishing in Budhikhola near Gaushala. Those swept away are 22-year-old Swastika Chaudhary of Sundararaicha-5, 60-year-old Asra Devi Chaudhary, 30-year-old Phula Chaudhary and 22-year-old Premkala Chaudhary called Fudni of the same place.

22-year-old Swastika Chaudhary was rescued by the locals among those swept away by the flood. The dead body of Premkala Chaudhary was found on the west bank of Budhikhola in Sunsari 4 Section. Asra Devi and Phula Chaudhary are still missing. Police said the seach operation is still underway.

Ward chairman Shivaprasad Tamang said that Shyam's dead body was found about 100 meters down by the river at 9 am. The boy was studying in class 6 of Janakalyan Secondary School in Chiuri Bhanjyang of Kerabari-4.

It takes about 1 hour to reach the school from Yangshila. Six children who were going to school had entered the flooded river at the same time.
