National ID mandatory in 28 districts to receive social allowances

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed Chief District Officers to collect National Identity Card data at the ward level In collaboration with local levels.

Spokesman and Joint Secretary of the Ministry Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that these directives include 28 districts where social security allowances are dependent on the national identity card.

The government has made national identity cards mandatory, beginning on July 16, in order to receive social security benefits during the first phase.

Joint Secretary Bhattarai directed the ward levels to provide information for identity cards in response to reports of an increase in the number of service customers.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has stationed 438 registration operators, and it has given CDOs the authority to set up extra registration stations in these 28 districts.
