Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal suspended

Kathmandu: Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal has been immediately suspended after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case against him in the Special Court on Friday.

CIAA filed a lawsuit claiming that during his tenure as the Secretary of the Ministry of Communication, he made a number of choices regarding the purchase of Surakshan Printing Center excise duty stickers that cost the state treasury billions of rupees.

Chief Secretary Aryal has been placed on automatic suspension as per the The CIAA Act 2048, Section 17.

 A provision in Section 17 states that a person holding a public office shall be automatically suspended for the duration of the case until the case is settled.
