Bishwo Prakash came down heavily on Oli, Lamichhane

Nepali Congress General Secretary and Member of Parliament Bishwa Prakash Sharma has voiced concerns regarding a political controversy surrounding the Giribandhu land case involving former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. During a special session of the House of Representatives held on Thursday, MP Sharma challenged UML Chairman KP Oli and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to thoroughly investigate the matter.

He highlighted that Nepali Congress had not submitted any amendment proposal concerning the land acquisition bill introduced by the Oli-led government for Giribandhu Tea Estate.

MP Sharma accused UML of being involved in 'accusation spree' even when the Congress had not voiced its stance despite Supreme Court's verdict that indicated policy corruption in the Giribandhu case. He refuted allegations made by Oli, stating, "We remained silent, but he accused the Congress of selling land and taking commissions. Was this accusation valid?" He argued that baseless accusations should not be tolerated, asserting the right of the Nepali Congress to defend itself appropriately.

Furthermore, MP Sharma challenged Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to investigate allegations of policy corruption in the Giribandhu land case, questioning the minister's readiness to delve into the matter. He expressed skepticism about Lamichhane's capability to address the issue effectively.

Regarding Education Minister Sumana Shrestha's personal matters, MP Sharma emphasized that such aspects should not hinder one's political advancement, advocating for support rather than discouragement for emerging leaders. He criticized former Prime Minister Oli's conduct, suggesting that someone of his stature should demonstrate greater decorum.

Additionally, MP Sharma raised concerns about the democratic practices within the UML party, pointing out discrepancies in leadership positions and implying the marginalization of certain members like Bhim Rawal within the party hierarchy.
