PM directs to create investment-friendly environment

Kathmandu - Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the government secretaries and chiefs of concerned departments to facilitate for luring domestic and foreign investors.
 
At a meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday on foreign investment, PM Deuba said that the government bodies should extend supportive roles for the new projects.

"Now, we have to move ahead by making development the main agenda. For this, you all play supportive role for investment-friendly environment," the PM stressed. 


PM Deuba also said that some projects were taking nearly a decade time due to hassles from the government side though the projects were supposed to have been completed in three to four years. 

"Let's consider amendment in the laws if they are not supportive for your works," said PM, urging them to expedite development projects. 

Stating that we would make economic stride with the exploitation of water resources, PM directed to formulate investment friendly policies accordingly. 

"We can attain economic prosperity by selling hydroelectricity as our country is rich in water resources," mentioned PM Deuba. 

The meeting has decided to submit proposal to the Council of Ministers in a fortnight to amend in the regulations formulated by the Investment Board relating to land to be provided to the investors. 

Present in the meetings were Minister for Finance Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kishor Chhetri, Secretary at the Minister of Foreign Affairs Shankar Das Bairagi and other secretaries at other concerned ministries.
