Lawmaker Khan sworn in
KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-elected lawmaker, Hasina Khan.
Khan secured her position as a Member of the House of Representatives through the proportional representation electoral system.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar today, with Speaker Ghimire officiating.
During the event, Speaker Ghimire presented Khan with the Parliament's logo and extended congratulations on her election as a Member of Parliament.
Under the Parliament's regulations, all newly-elected Members of Parliament must take the oath of office and secrecy before the Speaker before participating in parliamentary proceedings.
Padma Prasad Pandeya, the Secretary-General of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, congratulated Khan and offered best wishes.
He also provided her with essential documents, including a copy of the Constitution of Nepal and the Parliament Regulations.
Khan, aged 29, represents the Janata Samajbadi Party and was elected to fill the vacant seat following the passing of Manju Ansari Sharma.
Khan, who holds a Bachelor's degree, expressed her commitment to fulfilling her duties as a lawmaker effectively, emphasizing her focus on advocating for women's issues in parliament.
Born in Pokharbhindi of Rohini rural municipality in Rupandehi district, Khan currently resides in Duduwa rural municipality-3 of Banke district, where she is actively engaged in her legislative responsibilities.
