Maoist Center to back CPN-UML candidate in Ilam-2 by-election

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has announced its decision to support the candidate from CPN-UML in the upcoming by-election for Ilam-2.

Suhang Nembang, son of the late Subhash Nembang, has been nominated as the CPN-UML candidate for Ilam-2.

Hari Bol Gajurel, the party in-charge of Koshi Province, confirmed that the Maoist Center will not field its own candidate but will support the CPN-UML nominee, Nembang.

The by-election in Ilam-2 is scheduled for April 27, with contenders including Milam Limbu from RSP, Laxmi Gurung from RPP, and Jeet Bahadur Rai from CPN (Unified Socialist) also in the fray.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress, the primary opposition party, is yet to announce its candidate for the election.
