NC gears up for by-election candidate selection

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) is gearing up for a crucial Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting today to finalize their candidates for the upcoming by-elections.

Scheduled to begin at 9 AM at President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha, the meeting follows discussions held on Wednesday which did not yield candidate selections.

President Deuba has been in back-to-back meetings over the past three days to decide on candidates for the Ilam and Bhajang by-elections.

In Ilam-2, District President Dambar Khadka and Besh Raj Acharya are contenders, while in Bhajang-1, Jagat Joshi and Abhishek Singh are vying for candidacy.

The CWC meeting holds significant importance for the NC as it determines the official candidates for the by-elections, reflecting the party’s commitment to democratic processes.
