Nepal beats Gujarat, secures final berth in SMS Friendship Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepal has booked its place in the final of the SMS Friendship Cup after defeating Gujarat by eight runs in a thrilling encounter.

Nepal set a challenging target of 182 runs for Gujarat in the first innings. Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh showcased exceptional batting performance, scoring half-centuries each and forming a solid opening partnership of 125 runs.

Gujarat's bowlers struggled to contain Nepal's batting onslaught, with Jayamet Patel being the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets.

In response, Gujarat faced an uphill battle, managing to score only 173 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.

Despite their efforts, they fell short of the target set by Nepal. Nepal's bowling attack, led by Sompal Kami, Kushal Malla, and Gulsan Jha, put up a commendable performance, taking crucial wickets to restrict Gujarat's run chase.
