Nepal sets competitive target of 182 runs against Gujarat in SMS Friendship Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepal displayed a strong batting performance today, setting a target of 182 runs for Gujarat to chase in their SMS Friendship Cup encounter.

At the match held in Vapi, India, Gujarat won the toss and chose to field first, facing Nepal's batting prowess.

Nepal batted sensibly, posting a total of 181 runs for the loss of seven wickets within their allotted 20 overs.

Opening batsmen Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh led Nepal's charge, both achieving half-centuries and constructing a solid partnership of 125 runs for the first wicket.

Bhurtel contributed 67 runs, while Sheikh impressed with 85 runs to his name.

Gujarat's bowling attack, led by Jayamet Patel, managed to secure three crucial wickets, with Arya Desai and Drushant Soni claiming two wickets each.

This match marks Nepal's third appearance in the ongoing T20 tri-series, as they seek to maintain their winning momentum after previous victories against Gujarat and Baroda.
