CM Jammakattel to seek vote of confidence today
KATHMANDU: Chief Minister Shalikram Jammakattel of the Bagmati province government is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence at 1:00 pm today.
During a meeting of the province assembly's business advisory committee on Sunday, the agenda was finalized, deciding to bring the proposal for the vote of confidence to the discussion in today's assembly session.
Krishna Hari Khadka, the Secretary of the Province Assembly, confirmed that the meeting had resolved to conduct the vote of confidence during today's assembly session. The agenda will include discussions and a decision on the motion related to the vote of confidence for CM Jammakattel.
Secretary Khadka further added that Chief Minister Jammakattel will present the motion for the vote of confidence in the assembly session. Members from various political parties will express their views on the proposal.
Chief Minister Jammakattel was compelled to seek a vote of confidence following the withdrawal of support from the Nepali Congress in the province government. Consequently, he submitted a proposal to the Secretariat to initiate the vote of confidence process.
To maintain the government, the CM requires a total of 56 votes in the Province Assembly. In Bagmati province, CPN (UML) holds 27 members, Maoist Centre 21, CPN (Unified Socialist) seven, Hamro Nepali Party two, Nepali Congress 37, Rastriya Prajatantra Party 13, and Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party three.
