DPM Shrestha returns home today after official visit to China

CHENGDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who has been on an official visit to China, is scheduled to return home today.

During his visit, he held meetings with high-level political leadership, including Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Chairperson Wang Huning and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. Various aspects of bilateral relations between Nepal and China were discussed during these meetings.

Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha also had discussions with Vice Minister of the Communist Party of China's Foreign Department, Sun Haiyan, regarding ways to strengthen relations between the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the Communist Party of China.

Additionally, DPM Shrestha addressed a pre-investment conference organized at the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, encouraging Chinese investors to consider investment opportunities in Nepal.

He visited Chongqing Municipality in southwestern China, where he held a delegation-level meeting with Secretary of the Communist Party of China Zhejiang Committee, Yuan Jiajun. During this meeting, DPM Shrestha emphasized the importance of Nepal and China working together for economic prosperity.

Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha met with Wang Junzheng, party secretary of China's Xizang Autonomous Region, and Wang Zhungheng, party secretary of the same region, to discuss economic prosperity and address issues faced by the people of the Nepal-China border area.

During his visit to the Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa, DPM Shrestha emphasized the significance of economic diplomacy.

Accompanied by a delegation, DPM Shrestha also visited the Kailash Mansarovar area in Tibet. He concluded his visit by meeting with Huang Xiaoxiang, Governor of Sichuan People's Government, and advocating for Chinese investment in Nepal.

Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha's visit to China commenced on March 25 upon the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
